The 7 best all-in-one nursing and pumping bras on Amazon

Going back to work when my daughter was 4 months old was a bitter sweet experience for me. I was determined to continue breastfeeding but knew the odds were against me with my busy job.

I knew the only way to make it work was to make pumping sessions as quick and convenient as possible. So I bought a Spectra S1 (with in-built rechargeable batteries) so I could double pump anywhere. Then I went on a mission to find a great pumping bra so I could multi-task while I pump.

My ideal pumping bra had  to do double-duty as a nursing bra as well so I could wear it throughout the day. It also needed to hold my non-detachable Spectra flanges securely and tightly so I could concentrate on other tasks like having lunch and catching up with paperwork without having to worry about my shields and milk bottles dislodging. (Read this article if you are looking for a pumping bra specifically for your Spectra)

After hours of research and pumping bra returns, I found that these are the best all-in-one nursing and pumping bras available:

Best pumping bra overall: Kindred Bravely Sublime Hands-free Pumping Bra

Check it out on Amazon

Why I love the Sublime Pumping Bra:

  • Has an EasyClip system featuring 2 clips – one for the pumping layer and one for the nursing layer
  • The cups fold down fully for good skin-to-skin contact while breastfeeding
  • You can even breastfeed and pump at the same time (watch this video on Amazon)
  • It’s made of the softest fabric (84% nylon, 16% spandex) and is comfortable enough to wear all day
  • Save precious time at work – there is no need to waste time on layering separate pumping bustiers or clip-on accessories. Just clip-down, insert your pump flanges and you’re good to go
  • Holds my pump flanges in place securely, even when the bottles are full
  • Fits all standard pump flanges for major brands like Spectra, Philips Avent, Medela, Willow, Lansinoh and Freemie.
  • Wireless but the wide under-bust band and straps provide great support without the risk of blocked milk ducts
  • has a thin layer of removable padding – this gives me protection from milk-leaks and nipple show-through.
  • Fits sizes 30B to 44E
  • Comes in 3 colors: beige, black and pink heather

What’s not so great about it:

  • The cups sit quite high. On one hand, it provides great support for larger boobs but on the other hand, I can’t wear some of my lower cut tops
  • Can feel bulky due to double layers and full coverage. Again, this works well for busty moms but would overwhelm a smaller-chested mom
  • The removable padding sometimes moves about and has to be repositioned

Best pumping bra: Rumina Hands-free Classic Pumping and Nursing Bra

Check it out on Amazon

Why I love the Rumina Pumping Bra:

  • You can pull the top of the bra down fully for good skin-to-skin contact while breastfeeding
  • You can even pump and nurse at the same time
  • It has a ‘no hole pumping design’ to avoid your nipples poking through uncomfortably.
  • You insert the your flange from the side and position it over your nipples so it doesn’t matter where your nipples sit.
  • Thanks to the ‘no hole design’ you can also use the bra with any pump flange, including non-detachable ones like Spectra shields
  • When you position all 3 layers of the bra over and around your shields, the bra holds your shields and bottles securely
  • It’s made of super soft material (90% cotton 10% spandex) and is comfy enough to wear all day – perfect when you have sensitive skin
  • Save time pumping since there is no need for separate accessories
  • Fits bra sizes 32B and upwards

What’s not so great about it:

  • Supports smaller boobs fine but not enough support for larger breasts

  • works with all major pump brands – Spectra, Medela, Philips Avent, Lansinoh, Evenflo etc.
  • It has a sewn-in molded cup – this is an awesome feature! It separates your boobs for lift and shape – no more uni-boob.

Best pumping sports bra: Cake Maternity Lotus Pumping Bra

Check it out on Amazon

Why I love the Lotus Pumping Bra:

  • This is literally a 3-in-1 nursing bra: You can use it as a ‘regular’ nursing bra to breastfeed, a hands-free pumping bra, and as a yoga bra.
  • The double-layered cup design wrap around the flanges tightly and holds your shield and bottles in place even towards the end of pumping when the bottles are full of milk.
  • You save lots of time when you pump since there is no need for separate accessories. All you do is slide the flanges through the slit holes onto your nipples and off you go.
  • To breastfeed, all you have to do is loop the fabric around your breasts for good skin-to-skin contact
  • It comes in sizes XS – XL which caters to moms from bra size 30A to 42E
  • The double-layered racerback design provides excellent support
  • It is amazingly comfy, being made of soft, stretchy fabric (95% nylon/5% elastane). It is also seam-free and wireless.
  • You can wash it in your washing machine.
  • The bra is compatible with most pump brands – Spectra, Medela, Tommy Tippee, Avent, Pigeon, NUK, Minbee and Chicco.
  • It comes in 5 cool colours.

What’s not so great about it:

  • It is unpadded so your nipples will show through unless you insert removable breast pads
  • The racerback design limits your clothing options – no camis.

Prettiest pumping bra: Dairy Fairy Ayla Pumping Bra

Check it out on Amazon

Why I love the Ayla Pumping Bra:

  • It doesn’t look like a pumping/nursing bra at all. I would wear this beyond my breastfeeding journey
  • The drop down cups allow great skin-to-skin contact while breastfeeding
  • You can pump and breastfeed at the same time
  • You save time during pumping as there is no need for separate accessories
  • It has hidden flange openings so it actually looks like a normal bra

  • Fits moms with bra sizes 32A to 42J

What’s not so great about it:

  • The lace can be itchy on sensitive skin
  • Sizes run small

Best budget pumping bra: HOFISH 3-in-1 Pumping Bra

Check it out on Amazon

Why I love the HOFISH Pumping Bra:

  • It’s one of the cheapest pumping bras on Amazon and also one of the best-sellers
  • You can breastfeed and pump at the same time
  • Made of super soft nylon/spandex material and comfortable enough to wear all day
  • Comes with extra back extenders and adjustable straps for a better fit
  • Compatible with most breast pump flanges

What’s not so great about it:

  • Not supportive enough for large busts
  • Fabric pills and stretches with repeated washes

Best nursing bra clip-on for pumping: BRAVADO! Designs Hands-free Nursing Bra Accessory

Check it out on Amazon

*Strictly speaking this isn’t a bra but it converts your nursing bra into a pumping bra and deserves mention.

Why I love the BRAVADO! Designs Nursing Bra Clip-on:

  • Allows you to convert your nursing bra into a pumping bra
  • You can breastfeed and pump at the same time
  • Has figure of 8 openings to hold pumping shields tightly and allows you to use it with non-detachable flanges like Spectra shields
  • Securely attaches to any nursing bra with ‘B’ clips so there is no need to remove your bra or top
  • Comes in a large range of sizes (30A-46F) and 4 colors
  • Mom’s Choice Award winner for being convenient, easy and discrete
  • More affordable than buying a separate pumping bra

What’s not so great about it:

  • It’s an extra few steps in your pumping session when you’re already rushing for time
  • Sizes run small so measure yourself with your nursing bra on

Qualities to look for when you are choosing a nursing and pumping bra:

  • Make sure the bra you choose really allows you to do both pumping and nursing. Some pumping bras claim to be nursing bras but your baby has to breastfeed through a small hole. Ideally you want as much skin-to-skin contact as possible while breastfeeding.
  • Comfortable enough to wear all day. Look for nursing bras made of soft material like modal, cotton or bamboo.
  • Choose a wireless pumping bra – sometimes you might have to delay your pumping sessions and this causes breast engorgement. A wired pumping bra would be agony and lead to blocked ducts.
  • A pumping bra has to fit just right – snug but not uncomfortably tight. Otherwise it won’t provide enough support and won’t hold your pump shields securely. Look for bras with extra hooks and adjustable shoulder straps so you can adjust it to fit perfectly.
  • Lined or padded cups. Milk leaks are almost guaranteed when you’re pumping. The last thing you want is to have a milk patch on your blouse for everyone to see. Make sure the pumping bra you choose has padded cups, or at least pockets for you  to insert removable pads into.
