The Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra was my everyday bra when I was breastfeeding my daughter. I alternated between 2 bras almost every day for 1 year and therefore felt like a bit of an expert on the Bonds Contour Nursing Bra.
Here’s my review:
In a nutshell
The Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra was one of the best value-for-money everyday nursing bras I’ve had. The stretchy cotton fabric was soft and comfy, accommodating changes in breast size, especially in the early days of breastfeeding. Importantly, the contour bra had foam cups that caught all my milk leaks and protected my nipples from showing through.
Who is the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra for?
The Contour Bra is perfect to wear during pregnancy and throughout your breastfeeding journey. It’s for moms who want a staple bra you can wear every day for most activities. It’s even comfy enough to sleep in.
Who is it not for?
Moms with larger breasts – they only stock sizes 12B-18E. The bra is also not supportive enough to wear for high-impact exercises like jogging or running.
Key features and benefits:
- Thin contour cups that are protective against milk leaks and nipple show-through but are easy to fold down.
- Adjustable shoulder straps and 6 hook and eye options to get the perfect fit.
- Easy clip-down cups that you can maneuver with one hand
- Holds its shape well over many (many!) uses. Excellent value-for-money.
- Can be paired with matching briefs
Band size range: B-E
Cup size range: AUS 12-18 (US 34 – 40)
Strap style: U back

I admit I’m biased towards this bra or else I wouldn’t have used it for so long. That’s the best testimony of its quality. If you’re happy with that, check it out on Amazon. If you want to know more, read on.
Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra review: A deep dive
Who was the reviewer?
I was breastfeeding my second child when I wrote this review. I bought the contour bra in both black and white colors when I was pregnant with my first child and used them in my last trimester of pregnancy and through the first year of breastfeeding. It’s reached its use-by date now but I still have fond memories of the comfort and support they gave me.
Forgive the ratty-looking bra pics. These pics were taken after the bras worked hard for a year.
I’m a 14D during breastfeeding and a 12C otherwise. The bras were both in size 14D and were true-to-size.
Having read numerous articles on the best nursing bras, the Bonds Contour Bra didn’t even get a look-in. I owe it to Bonds and to all you moms to shine the spotlight on this great staple bra. I’ve reviewed it based on my usual criteria – comfort, support, ease of use, sexiness (style factor) and value-for-money as this covers what most moms expect in a nursing bra.
An introduction to the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra
The bra was one of the best value-for-money every day bras I’ve had. The cotton fabric was soft and stretchy, accommodating changes in breast size, especially in the early days of breastfeeding. It was comfy enough to wear all the time, even to sleep.
Importantly, the contour bra had foam cups that caught milk leaks and protected my nipples from showing through. This meant I could confidently wear the bra out of the house. I even wore it to work.
The Bonds Contour Bra comes in 2 colors:
- Black
- White
Boring… I know. But the black bra is actually quite sleek-looking and you can pair it with matching briefs.
It comes in band sizes AUS 12 – 18 (US 34 – 40) and cup sizes B to E.
Who is the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra best suited for?
The Contour Bra is perfect to wear during pregnancy and throughout your breastfeeding journey. It’s for moms who want a sturdy and functional bra you can wear every day for most activities.
Who is it not for?
Unfortunately this model doesn’t cater for moms with larger than size 18E breasts. The bra is also not supportive enough to wear for high-impact exercises like jogging or running.
Was the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra comfortable?
It was a very comfy bra and was perfect for the first few months of breastfeeding when my breasts were still engorged and my nipples were chafed.
I wore it throughout the day and even at night when I was having milk leaks.
I also wore it throughout summer and thanks to the cotton fabric, my boobs didn’t feel sticky or sweaty.
Did the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra provide good support?
For a wireless bra, it provided more than adequate support for low-impact activities. I wore it around the house, on long walks, on shopping trips and even for work.
The straps were adjustable but they were so sturdy that even after a year, I hardly needed to adjust them.
The back straps came with 6 hook and eye options. Over time the band stretched (the white bra stretched more than the black bra – not sure why) and towards the end, I was on the last hook. But as long as I kept adjusting the fit, it continued to support my breasts just fine.
I most loved the thin foam padding in the cups. It was thin enough that I could easily fold and unfold them for breastfeeding but just thick enough that no milk has leaked through yet. They also protected my nipples from showing through except when I wore very tight tops.
Was the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra easy to use?
The clip-down cups were easy to maneuver with one hand. The clips were sturdy and not fiddly at all.
The blessed foam cups were of excellent quality and unlike some other nursing bras, did not crease after being folded down for nursing.
It was also easy to maintain and has retained its shape and support through many a machine wash.
Was the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra sexy?
The bra design was simple and sleek even though there were no lace or other ‘sexy features’.
The contour was just right and the foam cups gave me a very normal silhouette under tops – no uni-boobs! It also had a plunge neckline so you could wear V-neck tops and show cleavage if you wanted to.
Was the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra good value-for-money?
This is where the Bonds Contour Bra really shines. It was a bit more expensive than budget bras but of much higher quality. It wasn’t as expensive as many other branded nursing bras even though its quality was on par.
The bras retained their shape and support even after 1 year of daily use. In terms of value-for-money, I don’t think you can ask much more from a nursing bra.
What was not so good about the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra?
The back band loosened over time so make sure you buy it in a band size that allows you to start out with the first hook.
The thin foam cups were great to prevent nipple show-through most times but my nipples still showed through when I wore tight tops.
The U-back design was also not convertible so I couldn’t wear it with tank tops. The shoulder straps were sturdy but not meant for show, which meant I couldn’t wear it with strappy camis.
After many uses, the white bra started to show its age with yellowish discoloration along the band. Get the black bra, it wears much better.
To wrap up
I recommend the Bonds Maternity Wirefree Contour Nursing Bra to moms who are looking for a sturdy and functional every day bra that they can wear throughout their breastfeeding journey. You can’t beat the Bonds Contour Bra for value-for-money.
