Padded nursing bras provide extra protection for sensitive nipples, preventing milk nipple show-through and milk leaks. Padded bras with contoured or molded cups also give you a nice silhouette under tops.
More importantly, you don’t have deal with removable pads that move and fold at their own will.

Best padded nursing bra overall: Cake Maternity Croissant Nursing Bra
Why I love the Croissant Nursing Bra
- it’s so soft and light on your skin, like a croissant!
- has molded cups with 3D spacer fabric which is lighter and more breathable than foam cups
- OEKO-TEX certified to be free from harmful chemicals
- has A-frame slings (pictured below) for more support and coverage during breastfeeding
What I don’t like about it
- The straps are thin like a regular bra’s and isn’t padded so it can be scratchy and cut into your shoulders if you have large breasts.
Bear in mind
- The Croissant Bra has flexi-wires which are not suitable for new moms
Best padded nursing bra for large breasts: Elomi Molly Lace Nursing Bra
Why I love the Elomi Molly Nursing Bra
- it looks good, and no one would know it’s a nursing bra.
- the stretch lace on the top cup helps you feel sexy
- provide great support up to size 42KK/44HH despite not having flexi-wires
- has a full circle internal foam sling (not the usual side sling) for more support during breastfeeding

What I don’t like about it
- It’s not breathable
- the lace collects lint
Bear in mind
- this bra is not for moms with smaller breasts – there is too much material and the molded cups will gape on you
Best padded nursing bra for small breasts: Natori Feathers Contour Nursing Bra
Why I love the Feathers Nursing Bra
- the plunge neck line is sexy and flattering
- beautiful lace trim
- doesn’t look like a nursing bra at all
- the molded cups give you a push up effect
What I don’t like about it
- it has a flexi-wire. I feel moms with small breasts get more than enough support from wireless nursing bras
Bear in mind
- it’s not suitable for new moms because of the underwire
Best padded wireless nursing bra: Cake Maternity Tutti Frutti Bamboo Nursing Bra
Why I love the Tutti Frutti Bra
- it’s amazingly soft and breathable
- the plunge lace neckline and molded cups give my breasts a push up effect
- it’s wireless with a wide underbust band for support
- the racerback design means more support and no falling shoulder straps

What I don’t like about it
- the side slings stretch out quickly so there’s basically no support during breastfeeding
Bear in mind
- you won’t be able to wear spag straps and camis with it

Best padded flexi-wired nursing bra: Cake Maternity Truffles Nursing Bra
Why I love the Truffles Nursing Bra
- it’s the most beautiful nursing bra I’ve ever tried
- has soft, molded cups and a plunge neckline
- all that lace is lined with cotton to feel comfy on your skin
- OEKO-TEX certified to be free from harmful chemicals
What I don’t like about it
- The side slings were placed very centrally and felt like seat belts on my breasts

Bear in mind
- moms with small breasts like me will find the cups gape despite the size being right
Check out my detailed review of the Truffles Bra.
Best padded nursing sports bra: Cake Maternity Zest Nursing Sports Bra
Why I love the Zest Nursing Sports Bra
- it’s one of the most supportive nursing sports bras on the market
- has A-slings for added support when breastfeeding
- moisture-wicking and breathable
- wide shoulder straps that don’t cut into your skin
What I don’t like about it
- it’s not comfortable for all-day wear
Bear in mind
- it has a flexi-wire and is not recommended for new moms
To wrap up
Personally, I would choose padded nursing bras any time. It’s wonderful not having to fiddle with nursing pads that move and fold every time I breastfeed.
